Susan Brick - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Susan grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. Her service in United States Navy prompted her to pursue a career in medicine/health care.
In the United States Navy, she worked as a hospital corpsman where she assisted healthcare professionals in administering medical aid, performing physical examinations, and providing patient care to fellow service members and their families.
When she deployed to the Middle East during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007-2008, Susan had the privilege of working alongside some of the most incredible nurses, physicians, and fellow hospital corpsman. During her deployment, Susan realized she wanted to continue to grow in the medical profession and became a registered nurse in 2013.
As a registered nurse, she has worked in various areas of medicine, including medical surgical, long-term care, emergency medicine, and psychiatry. While working as an emergency department registered nurse, Susan realized the need for more mental health providers in Hampton Roads. Access to mental health services in the community was an obstacle for many, especially children, and Susan wanted to change that. She became a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in December 2024.
In her spare time, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and their dogs, Baxter and Waffles. She loves coffee, sweet tea with lemon, traveling, outdoor adventures, and going to sporting events.
